Call for Researchers 

The Royal Institute of Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS): 

Established in 1994 in Amman, Jordan, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS) provides a venue for the interdisciplinary study of intercultural and interreligious issues with the aim of defusing tensions and promoting peace, regionally and globally. RIIFS focuses on promoting common human and ethical values that contribute to strengthening cooperation and interfaith relations, eliminating mutual misconceptions about the ‘other’ and ultimately expanding these shared commonalities in the hope of promoting peaceful coexistence. In addition, RIIFS provides a focus for rational discussion of all matters directly or indirectly relating to religion and religious diversity, regionally and globally. The work of RIIFS involves research and publication, and the organization of lectures, conferences and workshops. The institute is governed by a Board of Trustees chaired by HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal. 


The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF): 

FNF is the global think-tank for liberal politics, and has been active in Jordan since 1984, implementing projects in the areas of decentralization, civic education, entrepreneurship, and free market economy. The Amman office originally coordinated the Foundation’s projects in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. Since 2016 it has been serving as the Freedom Foundation’s Middle East and North Africa Regional Office. In Jordan, the FNF office cooperates with a diverse array of partners including ministries, think tanks, and civil society organizations. Through various projects and events, the Foundation for Freedom and its partners promote the liberal values of human rights, democracy, rule of law and social market economy. 


Project description: 

“Expert Study: Freedom of Worship in Jordan during Covid-19 Crisis”. The project aims to discuss and analyze the freedom of worship situation and its changes due to coronavirus crisis and lockdowns in Jordan, with a specific focus on studying the proportionality of regulations in place and its effects on the spirit of religious freedom. 



The objectives of the project are: 

  • To conduct a desk review to examine the recent circumstances governing freedom of worship in Jordan 

  • To conduct a survey to collect numerical information related to the study’s key questions 

  • To conduct key informative interviews to collect information from officials, religious leaders and experts 



Following are the researchers’ expected deliverables: 


A-Project Coordinator: 

  1. Assist Project director in designing the study and developing research tools.  

  1. Supervise and assign tasks to researchers. 

  1. Schedule and organize meetings with research team in coordination with Project director. 

  1. Coordinate visits, interviews and meetings with researchers and/or target groups. 

  1. Report progress and daily results of the assigned tasks to Project Director.  

  1. Review and assess material/data provided by researchers at all times. 

  1. Draft, edit and repair reports and relevant material to Project Director. 

  1. Follow-up on researchers’ needs requirements and feedback. 

  1. Perform other relevant duties as required.  



  1. Assist Project Director and Project Coordinator in all tasks related to project implementation, including developing research tools.  

  1. Participate in data collection in coordination with Project Director and Coordinator. 

  1. Conduct Key informative interviews with target groups.  

  1. Provide transcriptions of interviews.   

  1. Provide record, notes and updates on different research activities.  

  1. Provide support for organizing visits and meetings. 

  1. Data entry.  

  1. Perform other relevant duties as required.

Conducting the survey

Conducting Key Informative Interviews

Data analysis and results

Finalizing the study

Translation into Arabic, Design and printing of study 


Required qualifications: 


  • Minimum BA Degree in related fields. 



  • Has record in participating in field research. 

  • Experience in qualitative research. 



  • Good command of English and Arabic. 

  • Good knowledge about project related topics. 

  • Microsoft Office skills 

  • Willing to work in a team 

  • Good communication skills
