ABOUT PRE-REGISTRATION

The WOCMES-2 website is online http://www.wocmes2.org and those wishing to attend or participate in any of the academic activities associated with the Congress – panels, roundtables, exhibitions – are now able to pre-register. Participants are strongly urged to do so online and to pay the Congress fee by credit/charge card; however, pre-registration by fax is also an option, as is payment by bank transfer (or deferred payment in special cases).

In order to ensure that WOCMES-2 is a truly global event, permitting scholars and others from around the world to interact and learn from one another and from their regional counterparts, Congress fees have been reduced for those based in developing countries (broadly defined) and for all students. Further reductions are offered to those who sign on early. The fees are as follows:

Early registration (before 1 October 2005): Regular fee US$95; Student fee US$65; Developing world fee US$75.

                                   

After 1 October 2005: Regular fee US$130; Student fee US$95; Developing world fee US$105.

Once they have pre-registered to attend, participants will be able to propose panels, individual papers, or roundtables to the WOCMES-2 academic committee. Rather exceptionally, the WOCMES-2 website accommodates the online submission of forms and abstracts/outlines; submissions are also accepted by fax. In order to reduce the number of no-shows and maintain the integrity of the academic program, the website also permits panel or roundtable organizers to notify us of a withdrawal and to nominate a substitute participant, who will have to pre-register to submit an abstract/outline.

The WOCMES-2 Secretariat is committed to keeping down costs for participants in the Congress. Negotiations are presently in progress with a number of international carriers to ensure preferential airfares for registered participants and their companions. Special room rates are also being negotiated with a range of Amman hotels with two or more stars. The WOCMES-2 website will soon provide complete details on these reductions as well as assistance to participants looking for roommates. Information will also be available for those wishing to register for exhibitions or the international book fair.
