Statehood and Identity in Iraq

Inspite of the great attention which media attribute to Iraq, the country still remains an unknown state to the world public. Country and society are often subject to simplifying stereotypes and generalizations leading to false conclusions.
The Royal Institute of Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS) in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Amman is organizing a conference on Iraq in order to analyse the identity of Iraqi society. For this purpose, historians, theological sociologists, professors in literature and politologians are discussing the complexity of social forces in Iraq since modern times. The constructive dealing with statehood and people in Iraq is the purpose of this comprehensive conference.
From Germany, Dr. Christoph Herzog, now lecturer at the Orient Institute in Istanbul and specialist in 19th century history of Iraq, will take part.

The conference is open to everybody interested in the subject.
Admission free.
