John G. Nyuot Yoh
obtained a BA in political science and an MA in the modern
political history of the Middle East from the American
University of Beirut in Lebanon. Between 1997 and 2003, he
worked as a resident research associate at the Royal Institute
for Inter-Faith Studies in Amman, Jordan. In June 2003, he
joined the Department of Political Sciences at the University of
South Africa in Pretoria as a PhD candidate and a lecturer in
African and international politics. Yoh has published works on
Sudanese politics, as well as on diverse aspects of African
politics, including Pan-Africanism (African unity, NEPAD and the
African renaissance), regional and international organizations,
security and strategic issues, and political conflict. Yoh is
the author of a number of works, including Southern Sudan:
Prospects and Challenges (Amman: Al-Ahalia Press, 2000) and
Isolation, Unity and Secession: The Evolution of Political
Thought in Southern Sudan (Amman: Al-Ahalia Press, 2003),
both written in Arabic; and The Sudan Peace Process: Future
Prospects and Challenges (Pretoria: Africa Institute of
South Africa, 2004).
